Edwin R. Adams died Wednesday, the 11th last, aged 87 years. Services were held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. at the residence of Prof. G. W. Smith, conducted by Rev. C. B. Bosse.

Mrs. A. W. Anjlin died at the family residence on East North street Sunday morning of pneumonia. She leaves two little children, motherless. The family is in destitute circumstances. The father, who worked on the section for the I. C. railroad, being obliged to leave his work in order to take care of his wife and little ones.

Miss Julia Beman, daughter of H. K. W. Beman, of Chicago, died of pneumonia Monday at the residence of her uncle, C. C. Lawrence, in this city, where she was visiting. Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday morning and interment was had in the old city cemetery. Her mother and brother George came down from Chicago to attend the obsequies, the remainder of the family being too ill to travel.

Mrs. Boswell, a widow lady living at the south end of Marion street, just east of the residence of Sam T. Brush, died Wednesday morning.

Sarah J. Brantley, an old lady, 72 years of age, living with her son
John McCall about one and three-fourth miles southwest of the city, died
from the effects of burns caused by her clothing catching afire last Sunday
evening about 5 p.m.
Mr. McCall and his wife had gone to the barn to
doctor a sick horse, leaving Mrs. Brantley sitting in a chair smoking, as
she was in the habit of doing. On returning to the house about 30 minutes
later they found her lying on the floor dead, with her clothing nearly all
burned off of her and that remained in flames. It is thought that in some
way the flames were communicated to her clothing while lighting her pipe.
The can bottom chair upon which she had been sitting was partially burned.
She was buried in the Hiller Cemetery Monday.

Miles Brooks died Tuesday morning at his home in this city, of phneumonia, aged 56 years. Services were held at the residence Wednesday morning and interment had in Oakland.

Last week we chronicled the death of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Deset. Mrs Huldah Crowell, mother of Mrs. Deset, passed away Saturday, making the third death in that household in one week. Four children are left, ranging in age from 6 to 16 years. Theirs is indeed a pitiable case and calls for the active, practical sympathy of our good people.

The aged mother of Rev. Thomas Daniel (colored) died Tuesday. Obsequies were held at Rock Hill Baptist church Wednesday morning.

Death has destroyed the home of Joseph Deset. Tuesday evening Mrs. Deset passed away and Thursday night the husband succumbed to the fatal effects of pneumonia. Mrs. Deset's mother is also very low and is not expected to live. The family lives on the corner of Poplar and College streets. Mr. Deset was a drayman by occupation.

Mrs. Nancy A. Duncan died Friday, January 6, at the home of her son, R. D. Bradbury, in Harrisburg [Saline County], aged 102 years.

James Evans, who it will be remembered underwent amputation of a leg on account of injuries received in the M. & O. yards at Murphysboro several weeks ago, died Sunday morning in the hospital in that city.

An aged lady by the name of Mrs. Hook was found dead in her bed in the house next door to J. W. Miller's lumber yard on East Main street. The old lady had been rooming at this place for some time and has been dependent on charity for a long time. She had been ailing a few days and charitable persons had been looking after her. Those going to see her Sunday found that she had passed away. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday morning. Interment in the old City Cemetery.

Willie Huddleston, the 9 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Huddleston died at the family residence on Poplar street, Sunday night. The services were held at the home of the parents, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Interment in Oakland cemetery.

Robert Kramer was struck Saturday evening by Conductor W. M. Bryan's train while walking along the track in the northern suburbs of Murphysboro. He fell outside the rails, but his leg was mangled and he was otherwise injured. He died in the hospital in that city Tuesday.

The infant daughter of D. D. Mayfield, collector fro the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., died at their home in Hallidayboro Wednesday.

G. A. Waeckerle, familiarly known as "Chris," who lived in the southeast corner of Carbondale township, died Friday, the 27th ult. and was buried in the neighborhood cemetery. Deceasedd was about sixty years old and was well known and respected in this part of the county.
